Welcome to Holistic Vida Therapy

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Maya Angelou

We aim to create a safe space where vulnerability can be accessed and utilized throughout your journey. You will be able to explore your past, present and future. This introspection can highlight not only the most fragile parts of yourself but also your gifts, resiliency and wholeness.
Finding support is an act of courage and we look forward to being with you every step of the way. Thank you for choosing us as your safe place for healing.
Trust the process-Most importantly, trust yourself.

Individual Therapy

We can often feel stuck in certain life areas, overwhelmed, or simply in need of someone to be a sounding board. Individual therapy can provide one-on-one support to sort through different life areas to begin feeling a sense of peace, connection, deeper self-awareness and direction.

Couples Therapy

Relationships are tricky. They can serve as platforms for great learning - and for great frustration. Many couples find themselves wanting to stay together, but not knowing how. Couples therapy can help partners learn to communicate effectively by teaching each person skills that allows both people to feel heard, seen, valued and appreciated. With professional support, partners learn to bond with one another in new ways, creating love and connection in order to thrive in the relationship - both individually and together.

Perinatal Therapy

Many people expect pregnancy to be the highlight of their lives. The excitement of bringing a new life into the world feels like a blessing for many families. Pregnancy can also be one of the scariest times a person has ever faced. Many birthing parents and their loved ones are presented with unforeseen struggles around pregnancy - miscarriage, infertility, postpartum symptoms, fear, excessive worry - often leading to feelings of grief, regret, and guilt. Perinatal therapy can provide a space to safely share your experiences with a therapist who can guide you through your journey, regardless of the circumstances surrounding pregnancy through your first year postpartum.

Family Therapy

Our first sense of community often begins within our families. Most families are complex, with various personalities - some in harmony, while others are in discord. Family therapy can help this unique group of individuals learn to improve communication skills, deal with conflict effectively, and create deeper understanding and harmony. Sessions can sometimes include an individual or certain family members, while other times the whole family.

Trauma

Most of us have faced some level of difficulty at some point in our lives. But sometimes the brain can store deeply upsetting events in a way that leads to a physiological response often known as “fight, flight, or freeze.” Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can often lead to feeling overwhelmed, helpless, hopeless, and highly anxious. Trauma therapy can help you understand why your body responds in certain ways, and learn to rewire your brain in ways that can lead to a sense of calm, confidence, and feeling re-centered.

Supervision and Professional Development

The Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs requires that individuals practicing as Limited Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT) have clinical supervision by a fully Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. We utilize a collaborative, holistic approach to explore the therapist identity and to further uncover areas of strength and professional interest. Together we will work to adapt your therapy style to your personal values, as you are first a human. My goal is to ensure you have access to resources, both within the mental health field and within yourself, to provide high quality, clinically sound therapy services using a culturally-centered lens.
